Electronics is taught within the Department as part of our Masterclass programme. Within the Masterclass pupils will develop various skills and knowledge, such as:
· Prototype planning with breadboards.
· Practical hands on soldering with strip board and printed circuit board.
· Planning and testing electronic circuits for faults.
· Wiring techniques (e.g. heat shrink, crimping, cable tie marking)
· Knowledge of electronic components (e.g. resistors, LED’s, microcontrollers)
· Safe working practice with electrical items
· Designing circuits on Yenka software
The Master Class is an accredited SQA course in which pupils can achieve a National 4 Circuit Construction Unit.
Pupils will carry out varies exercises, build up a portfolio log book and complete two projects. The first being a POV (Persistence of Vision)
Wand, which can display any six character word and the second is an Audio Amplifier for playing sound from any music device.
